Reproduction Fees
Digital copies in the form of a watermarked pdf or photocopies may be ordered from the Archives, subject to certain limitations (staffing, size of documents, format, and physical condition of originals). Please note that in most circumstances, we require researchers to conduct research on-site. Archives staff will make paper copies of documents, photographs, finding aids, and other materials from our collections, at the following rates:
- COVID 19: No charge for up to 10 pp. free due to the pandemic (with limitations, eg. once per year or semester)
- All materials: photographs and documents from manuscript collections or Institute archival collections: $1.00/page
- Photocopies of documents within manuscript collections may not exceed 50 pages: $1.00/page
- Photocopies for Rensselaer students: $.10/page
- Pre-payment by check is required prior to the release of any material.
In-house digitization fees are listed below. Pricing for oversized materials must be negotiated with an archivist. Please be aware that digital reproductions are for personal use only.
- Items under 11" x 17": $10.00/ item
- Items over 11" x 17": minimum $20.00/scan (additional fees may also apply)
- Pre-payment by check is required prior to the release of any material.
Publication Fees
Publication in print, online, or in any medium requires prior approval by archives staff, including completion of a Permission to Publish form.
- Minimum $40.00/item
- Additional fees may be incurred depending on the type of request.
- Pre-payment by check is required prior to the release of any material.
Publication fees are waived for RPI staff members who use Archives images in the course of their work for the Institute.
