An astute subscriber to RPI History Revealed recently pointed out that the Archives blog has been going strong for ten years!  In honor of the blog’s creator, Amy Rupert (a.k.a. AmytheArchivist), I think it’s time to harken back to one of her signature series - mystery images!

This is a photo of an athletic team, but I'm not sure which one or when it was taken (1960s?).  I think it may be the tennis team, because I've seen the coach in other pictures.  Do you know?  Can you identify the coach or any of the team members?

If you're new to this blog, let me explain what the mystery images are all about.  We have a large photograph collection that contains images of RPI people, subjects and events.  When photographs arrive in the Archives from various sources, we file them into the collection.  This all works great -- when the photos are identified!  If the photos are not marked in any way, then it's up to me or other Archives staff to figure out who, what or when.  If we draw a blank, the photos go into a stack of "unidentified photos" until we get some helpful information.

The mystery of this image is not what is it or who is it, but when is it?    The photograph pictures a parking lot east of Blaw-Knox and north of the academic campus.  The location looks more like a military base than a college campus!  The paved area is only half the size of what is now referred to as the North Lot -- that's where I park every working day.

Once again, the individual and the apparatus are both mysteries to me.  If you know the info., please leave a comment!

Here we have another professor at the blackboard pose to ponder.  Please identify this prof and leave a comment.  If you happen to recognize the formula(s), feel free to share that information as well.

The Mystery Image is a place this time instead of a person.  I have a feeling that I have seen this house before -- possibly in the Troy vicinity, but I can't quite place it.  I'm kind of getting ahead of the seasons by posting a winter scene in early November!  Do you know where this house is located or who owns it?

I don't have much to say about this image -- I'm clueless.  :-)  Can you identify the professor?  The student?  The equipment?  If so, please leave a comment!

Bravo to our blog readers.  All of the mystery images that have been posted thus far have been identified!  So let's move on to the next image. This must be a very serious scholar (You've seen pictures of Da Vinci haven't you??).  Can you put a name with this face?

I have two different views of this prof for you to consider and therefore two photos that need to be filed in the right place. The computer in the first view may help place him in time. I was curious about the sign below the prof in the computer picture so I enlarged it and it reads: IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO CLEAN UP AFTER YOURSELF YOU OBVIOUSLY ARE INCAPABLE OF USING THIS COMPUTER SO GET OFF IT! (OR LEARN TO LEAVE A CLEAN WORKSPACE BEHIND)
